Job requirement:
To maintain the exterior grounds around the Headquarters.
Description:
Every year or thereabouts we have a blitz around the HQ to try and get the grass, undergrowth, etc., under control. Nothing further happens for another 12 months or so then it's back to another blitz … and so the cycle continues ... ad infinitum.
This scenario cannot be allowed to continue and we have to break the cycle. Thanks to the stalwart efforts of our two Scout Leaders, Elliott and Liam, the grounds have been cleared and they are looking half decent.
We now need to keep them this way and accordingly we are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Person.
The job is not very strenuous and will only involve maintaining the various areas around the building. Broadly the job will involve mowing the grass (not large and good petrol mower provided) about three times per year, strimming edges, probably only twice per year (or as necessary) and applying weedkiller to gravelled areas and car park as required. Plus there will be a few 'as and when' jobs as they crop up.
All in all not a difficult or strenuous job which would suit a reasonably active person with a few hours to spare now and again.
(If the Group's redevelopment plans go according to schedule this will only be a short term appointment as it is hoped that work to replace the existing building will commence in 2012.)
Remuneration:
The person appointed will be placed on the Leaders and Executive Committee Members pay scale, which is not exactly a lot, in fact it's nothing at all (!) as we are a self-funded voluntary organisation. However, in a good year, and we achieve our targets, there will be a BONUS …. ! in the form of an evening out or similar.
